1- Rohan Murray in the Melbourne Digital Concert Hall - Thursday 11 June at 7:00pm
We hope this email finds you well and safe in these uncertain times when concert halls (including the wonderful National Trust venue Rippon Lea Ballroom) are closed to musicians and audiences. It is great news that next week, Team of Pianists partner Rohan Murray will perform live via the Melbourne Digital Concert Hall.
Together with his partner, violinist Elizabeth Sellars, Rohan will present Viardot to Figaro, which includes the Mozart K380 sonata as well as Faure’s first sonata in A major. Both works are highly imaginative and fully explore the expressive and virtuosic capabilities of both instruments. The Mozart is highly operatic and evokes scenes from The Marriage of Figaro as well as Don Giovanni. The Faure is full of sweeping romantic gestures and colourful display, about which Saint-Saens wrote: “Magic floats above everything.”
This performance will be streamed live from the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne on Thursday June 11 at 7pm. Audience members can watch the concert in their living room by the fire, via computer, iPad or smart TV, with a glass of wine or a cup of tea! Melbourne Digital Concert Hall has brought live music to private homes in Australian suburbs and has raised over $250,000 for performers who have lost income.
