PIANO MASTERCLASS with

HELEN KRIZOS

(Assistant Head of Keyboard, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, UK

Helen Krizos has wide experience as a teacher and enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. Over the years students have had successes in national competitions such as the Young Musician of the Year and the Royal Overseas League. She enjoys a broad range of musical work which includes adjudicating and directing pre-school music classes and has conducted masterclasses and workshops at major universities and conservatoires.
Her piano duo with Peter Noke rapidly established itself as one of the UK's foremost ensembles, broadcasting frequently on BBC Radio 3 and recording a number of CDs. They were invited to play in the famous Dvorák Hall in Prague and appeared as soloists with many leading orchestras, including the English Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia, Bournemouth Sinfonietta and the BBC Philharmonic.

Team Partner, Robert Chamberlain led a educational events in Nhill and Horsham in March with assistances of two brillant students, Hsiao-Ni Axtens and Samuel Crane.

'Akira Imai at Glenfern'

Glenfern and the Team of Pianists were host to renowned Japanese pianist, Akira Imai as part of the Team's 'Rigg Bequest - Classic Music in Historic Venues Series'. Imai has been a prize-winner in several international competitions and appeared as soloist and chamber musician in many major concert halls throughout the world. Numerous critics have remarked on Mr. Imai's characteristic blend of European tradition with Japanese precision. From 1981 to 1995 he served as Professor of Piano at the State University for Music in Vienna. He is author of several publications on a wide variety of music subjects and is editor for several publishing houses. Mr. Imai is one of Japan's most respected artists and pedagogues. Mr. Imai is also teaching at the graduate school of Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo.

Graeme Abbot hosted the launch, followed by a short performance by Kristian Chong, joint winner of the Australian National Piano Award 2000.
